We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate the end of the season than with a POOL PARTY! Our Panthers had a blast celebrating their hard work, teamwork, and dedication throughout the season. These students have put in the effort, cheered each other on, and represented MHES with Panther Pride!

Mrs. Cecil’s 4th and 5th graders have been hard at work writing persuasive essays, convincing others why they should buy their haunted house! 🏚️👻 And just look at that writing! These young authors are learning how to use their words to persuade, and we are IMPRESSED!

To top it all off, their watercoloring skills were on point! 🎨 We have some talented young writers and artists here at MHES!

Our preschoolers spent the week exploring all things trees! They learned about the many things trees provide, discovered how and why leaves change colors, and even worked up an appetite making homemade cinnamon apples topped with whipped cream! Way to go, preschool!

On Tuesday, we celebrated our amazing 5th-grade athletes! These kiddos exemplify what it means to be a Panther, and we couldn’t be prouder of them! We know they will continue to do amazing things both on and off the court. Way to represent MHES! 🐾

A special shout-out to the Beckley Fire Department for taking the time to share their knowledge, teach our students important safety tips, and bring some goodies to make the experience even more fun! We are so thankful for our community helpers and the important role they play in keeping us safe.

Our 5th grade students had an amazing field trip to Grandview last week! They had the opportunity to explore West Virginia’s rivers, geography, natural beauty, and so much more.

What a wonderful way to connect classroom learning with the incredible experiences right here in our own state! We are so thankful for opportunities that allow our students to explore, learn, and experience all that West Virginia Tourism has to offer! 💙💛

Each week, Maxwell Hill Elementary staff members will select students who demonstrate what being a Panther is all about! These students have been CAUGHT SHOWING THEIR PAWS! 🐾

Students have the opportunity to be recognized by demonstrating our PAWS expectations:

When a student is caught showing their PAWS, their name will be entered into our weekly drawing!

Each Friday, one lucky winner will be selected as our PAWsome Panther and will win a FREE ice cream coupon and t-shirt.

Coming home today, you should receive our September newsletter with important dates to remember and information about all the exciting things happening this month! Please take a few moments to look it over and see how you can get involved in our school.

If you would like to help out, please make sure to complete and sign a volunteer form. Anyone wishing to volunteer, help during classroom parties, or visit during school events must have a completed volunteer form on file.

2nd–5th grade students: You will also be receiving information about our PANTHER PACK! We will be taking our first field trip at the end of the nine weeks, so help us get your child excited about working hard and becoming part of the PACK!
